Our bee-cause
In a hive when one part is suffering, it impacts the entire hive. As mothers, women and small business owners, our commitment to children, community and environmental causes will always be one of the pillars of our company. We believe in helping those in need, change, speaking up and supporting kindness always. As we grow, we are committed to making this list grow too.
Community causes:
Bee The Change Buttons: We believe in the power of voting for change in the 2020 election and that our country and democracy are all stronger when we all vote. We believe in teaching future voters, that even though they might be too young to vote themselves, that doesn't mean they can't encourage their eligible parents, friends, family and neighbors to vote! Our Bee The Change Button Pack is a Wee Bee Box exclusive design, printed in the USA. We will be donating $1 for every button pack sold to When We All Vote, a non-profit, nonpartisan organization that is on a mission to increase participation in every election and close the race and age voting gap by changing the culture around voting, harnessing grassroots energy, and through strategic partnerships to reach every American.
Press for Change Prints: As native Washingtonians and business owners, we have watched history unfold in our city and around the country with issues concerning racial injustice. Our limited edition print series launched in June 2020 with our friends Raff Embossing (...who we just happen to share a workspace with!) have ALL proceeds supporting organizations in our community and country working to bring about sustainable change.
Bellen's More Than Peach Project: In June 2020 we committed to this incredible young girl's mission raising awareness of diversity and working to increase inclusivity in the classroom through education and art products.
No Kid Hungry: As COVID-19 crippled the world in 2020, childhood hunger became a devastating reality for far too many children who were not able to get meals attending school. With your help donating a portion of our sales in April & May 2020 and again in November 2020 we were able to donate the equivalent of 8,700 meals.
Girl's Opportunity Alliance: in honor of International Day of the Girl 2019 a portion of sales were donated to this wonderful organization helping seeking to empower adolescent girls around the world through education.
The Birthday Party Project: In 2019 we launched a "Help Celebrate Others" partnership providing gifts to this incredible organization that provides birthday parties for homeless children.
Children's National Hospital: In 2018 we held a holiday book drive to donate books to patients of our neighborhood hospital, Children's National Hospital which is our region's top pediatric hospital.
Environmental:
We participate in the Sponsor-a-hive program, which places native bee homes and honeybee hives in urban gardens, schools, and organizations that grow fresh produce and bolster local ecosystems for communities in need.
In 2019 in honor of National Honey Bee Day we launched a collaboration with our friends at Hazel Village. 10% of the proceeds from each beekeeper bear bundle order was donated to the Honeybee Conservancy. Visit here for more buzz on our sweet collaboration.
